About the place.

Nestled amidst the snakepit of onramps and offramps that connects I-90 and I-94, Volund Automotive Repair and Customization is one of the dozens of businesses related to vehicles in the immediate area. It consists of a spartan brick building painted British racing green that measures roughly fifty feet by eighty feet and a parking lot of cracked macadam shared with the small used car company next door. Given its size, it is doubtful that it could accommodate more than a handful of employees.

A single rollup door leads to the work floor, a concrete affair covered in old oil stains, making it necessary for vehicles to turn to the right to enter one of the three bays. In truth, the only things that really define the bays are the three separate lifts and a wall of clear plastic sheeting separating the far left bay so it can be used for painting. For such a small shop, it is well stocked with not only the familiar devices of impact wrenches and rolling carts of Snap-on Tools but also things such as torches, grinders, and paint sprayers. The tools all have a secondhand look but seem well cared for.

A regular door to the left of the vehicle entrance leads into the small office, a crowded affair consisting of a cheap desk, metal filing cabinet, and various piles of paper. Across from the desk, a second door, typically propped open, leads to the work floor, while to the left, a third door leads to a storage room.

  • Hideout: The small room connected to the office has been set up with a cot, mini-fridge, and microwave. It may not be all the comforts of home, but it serves as a place for someone to lay low when they have to.
  • Hollow: The door that usually leads from the back room to the alley outside also connects to a Hollow featuring a relatively spacious log cabin capable of comfortably housing half a dozen of the Lost looking for a place to crash.
  • Forge: Additionally, the hollow contains a fully equipped forge.
