The Tale of Garm the God-Killer

This story is true.

In the earliest days of the Blood Talons, Destroyer Wolf raged uncontrollably against the foes of the People. Their thoughts were murder, their words weapons, their agenda nothing less than eternal war. Fenris-Ur's red desires waxed so hot that they gave rise to the Secondborn Garm-Ur, who longed from the very first for nothing more than death in combat against a superior foe. Garm trekked across the earth searching for their death, never meeting their match. Whoever Garm-Ur challenged lost to them, no matter how terrible or skilled they might have been. When they hunted down and slew the corrupted wolf-god Gagh-Ur, its shattered remains coalesced into a thousand wolf-Hosts that plague the world to this day.

With Gagh-Ur's defeat, Garm-Ur felt a crisis well up. What was once their greatest foe was diminished, fragmented, yet numberless and eternal. After Urfarah, who could stand against them now? Where was the death in battle they sought for so long? So for the very first time, Garm-Ur turned from the warpath to regard the Uratha that followed in their wake of destruction. They found whole packs of Blood Talon pilgrims following in their footsteps, studying and refining Garm-Ur's art of war and using it in their own hunts against the Pure. Garm-Ur was not impressed with the antics of these half-fleshed children, but recognized their potential for growth. They knew that one day, far in the future, one of these might offer Garm-Ur the glorious death they've always sought. So Garm-Ur made his pact with those aspirant warriors, and the Lodge of Garm was born.

Garmir in the millennia since then have devoted themselves to the art of single combat. They perfect the art of ~uma suguthkuth~, 'victory via decapitation', and take only the strongest of their kind as their sacred prey. Each and every Garmr seeks a glorious death in combat, and must be ready to meet it at a moment's notice.
