Description

Lorel is pale in a way that goes beyond normal understandings of such a term. Born with a form of total albinism her skin is white and her hair just a shade off the kind of platinum that people now pay a fortune for in salons. Her eyes are a blue so light it is almost silver and the overall effect of her strange appearance is striking to say the least. Some find her beautiful, others unsettling, but it is rare to find someone who has no opinion on the way she looks - even if it is only to comment on her figure, slim to the point of waiflike.

You're most likely to find her dressed in a manner that is kindly described as 'retro'; she is fond of bright colours, usually jewel tones rather than neon, interspersed with black or brown so it feels like a theme rather than a riot and sits somewhere around the late 70s/early 80s. On a typical day she can be found looking 'arty', a rainbow top under blue denim dungarees, ankle boots with a chunky heel and hair wrapped in a flower print scarf that is equally likely to be utterly generic or vintage Hermes.

History

The world now is very different to the one Loreley remembers leaving in 1980, in some ways it is more free, easier to be herself but in others it seems to have shrunk down to a very small space indeed. Growing up in the suburbs of Chicago while the Vietnam war was still raging, realising she liked women as well as men, finding a job, falling pregnant...They all seem so very far away after an interminable amount of time spend in Arcadia being used to lure other mortals off the paths and into the Hedge to face her own fate, kept caged when she was not required for entertainment or hunting. Perhaps that is why she now seems determined to do everything at once, to experience every new thing this modern world has to offer.

Anyone who recalls the name Lorel Forster from 40 years or more ago remembers a flighty 20 something who had to be pushed into marrying the father of her child and ran off when the baby was around a year old. She was reported missing until some confirmed sightings of her popped up in Memphis and later New York. Someone bearing the same name was a one hit wonder in '85 with a track that afficionados still argue over categorising as one genre or the other but no one has heard anything of her in years now, she must be in her 60s, maybe she died. Certainly she never went home, back to her husband or the child who was taken into the system because it was considered better than leaving him in his father's custody. Just another selfish kid who put her own desire for fame before the people who relied on her...

RP Hooks

Changeling - One of the Lost who has found her way back to the 'real' world and is trying to deal with the changes that have taken place in her absence.

Singer - She's currently busking to make ends meet, maybe you've dropped a few bills in her jar or perhaps you'd like to offer her a job?

Party Girl - Lorel loves a good party, new experiences and jumping into situations feet first.

Aren't you... - She was officially listed as a missing person for about 2 years. The case was closed when sightings of her started rolling in and filed as 'solved' when her name came out attached to a single, but that was 40 years ago.

Contacts

Pahkarmenavista Khan - Karmen is a good friend and a trusted ally, we have each other's backs.
John Bishop Butler III - Good people. Offered me help when I needed it and gave me a job, which is as much for my benefit as his. Desperately in need of a filing system though!
Edwin Lane - Far nicer than he gives himself credit for I think, he does his best to help (not always in the best of ways) despite having his own troubles. I wonder if he realises what giving a girl a mix-tape means...
