Oath of Matrimony

We feel that the Invictus Oath of Matrimony (Secrets of the Covenants, pg. 190) giving constant ongoing free dots in social merits & disciplines is a bit too powerful. We've decided to bring this back to be more in line with merits like Professional Training and Mystery Cult Initiation in terms of the bonuses it gives, while keeping the theme of it.

Upon swearing the Oath of Matrimony, both vampires gain the following as a one-time effect:

1 free dot in the other's covenant Status, if they are different. This does count towards the total of 5 dots allowed in covenant status. 1 free dot in blood potency if the other has a higher blood potency. If both vampires have the same blood potency, they choose who gets a dot of potency. Each vampire may choose 2 different disciplines the other vampire has at a higher level and gain one free dot in them. Each vampire gains Blood Sympathy to the other, at one step removed.

Each vampire gains a full third stage vinculum to the other. This destroys any other vinculums.

There are no ongoing benefits or recalculating of disciplines.

We feel this brings the merit more in line with other merits that provide freebies, while also acknowledging the serious drawbacks of the vinculum as well.
