Western mages have been present in Chicago with the first colonization by whites, and have been influenced by the same social movements as the sleepers. The ethnic strife between the Irish and the Italian communities spilled over into inter-Order politics, as did the rise of Chicago's notoriously corrupt political machine in the 20th century. But the War of Mages in the 1980s was entirely an internal affair: rumors of an Atlantean artifact and leftover remnants of an archmage tore Chicago's magical community apart, and in 1987 it erupted into open (by mage standards) warfare. A sizable chunk of the Awakened population died or fled the city, and the population has only recently begun to rebound.
The Winds of Change Consilium
: Chicago's Consilium has been led by the same man since the 1980s. They meet in the Glessner House, a protected historic site and museum located on the South Loop. The Consilium officers also meet in the Walsh Industries building in the Loop, where they have created a Demense to tap the ley line created around the Loop's perimeter.

Magical Mysteries of Chicago
* Origin of the Wound
    • At its first appearance in records by explorers, the Chicago area was inhabited by a number of Algonquian peoples, including the Mascouten and Miami. The name "Chicago" is derived from a French rendering of the Native American word shikaakwa, known to botanists as Allium tricoccum, from the Miami-Illinois language.
    • The Iroquois tribes of New York drive the Algonquian tribes entirely out of Lower Michigan and as far as the portage of "Chicago"
    • The Beaver Wars occur: During this time many die, rocking the Shadow of the area. The numerous deaths and various curses flung by the warring groups rips open a spiritual wound , becoming corrupted and thus taken advantage of by various scelesti to take advantage of the struggle.
  • The Sariras and the Mage Wars
    • A legendary mage whose name is lost to time (or did (s)he make it that way) followed the Golden Path and eventually became an archmage. A sariras remains, a powerful artifact (considered ten dot) with varied abilities. It has been the source of contention between the Pentacle who want to either share or use it for their own agendas. It has been a huge source of contention causing much inter-Consilium conflict, as well as a reason why the Scelesti, Banishers, and the Seers have continued to attack. However, due to the power of the sariras in Pentacle hands, they maintain control of the city.
  • The L: Leylines, Ansho, Aedes, and more
    • It seems that the L was built upon the leylines of the land in Chicago. Things are semi stable as there are shifts that occasionally occurs and no one knows why. As such, various areas that are either full of Supernal influence (the Aedes) or completely devoid of them (the Ansho) occasionally appear at random. Why this happens? No one knows.

Character Creation
* Character Creation Rules
    • Mage Guide
    • 10 XP (no XP incentives)
    • Gnosis 3 limit at chargen (Gnosis 5 MAX with XP)
    • Houserule: Gnosis caps arcana
      • (Gnosis 3 -> Max arcana 3, Gnosis 2 -> Max arcana 2, etc)
      • No using extra XP to raise it above gnosis
  • Raising Gnosis with XP
    • Increasing gnosis requires a lot of time and devotion to the arcane arts. It means you're obsessed with pursuing magical mysteries at the cost of other things. In order to reflect this, we are going to have 'gnosis seekings' where a PC consents to potential death in a scene. The PC will typically enter a mystery play that relates to virtues, vices, goals, obsessions, aspirations etc. There is a risk for failure (in which case you can try again in a month with no XP spent).
    • When you raise gnosis, there is a RL time cooldown until you can raise gnosis again. The scale follows as...
      • Gnosis 1 -> 2 - one month
      • Gnosis 2 -> 3 - two months
      • Gnosis 3 -> 4 - three months
      • Gnosis 4 -> 5 - four months

  • Raising Arcana with XP
    • There will be a ONE month cooldown for arcana raises. Let's say you raise life this month, you can still raise the other arcana, but you cannot raise life again until next month.
  • Banned
    • Sleepwalkers (play a Proximus instead)
    • Seers of the Throne
    • Banishers / Scelesti
    • No Legacies until Signs of Sorcery is out
  • Books Used
