Uptown

Description

Centered around the length of Broadway, the majority of the Uptown district is residential; red and brown brick buildings mingled with a smattering of local stores, coffee shops and the occasional bar or restaurant. Trees line the sidewalks, along with the occasional planter containing a blend of flowers and weeds, while cars roll by in a near-constant flow into the various areas making up this neighborhood.

The Uptown Entertainment District is a lively and popular destination for tourists and locals alike, hosting music venues, nightclubs and restaurants, including the Uptown Theatre and Aragon Ballroom. Additionally, Argyle Street is locally known by many names like North Chinatown, Little Saigon and Little Cambodia, thanks to the proliferation of groceries, shops and trading companies selling merchandise from a wide variety of Asian countries. In the southwest, the historic Graceland Cemetery provides a final resting place for many of Chicago's famous dead.

Transport through the district is aided by the Red Line 'L'.
