Description

An upper-middle class neighborhood full of detached homes and green spaces, North Park is home to a mix of wealthy immigrant communities from Korea Taking the name from the novel Norwood, this area is largely residential; single family homes and a few condominiums making up the majority of the homes here. Unlike many of the other Far North districts, Norwood Park is still largely homogeneous, with minority communities of Hispanic, Scandinavian and Serbian families here and there. A number of the precincts mandate an alcohol-free lifestyle, with the first liquor store in 50 years only opening in 2016. Many businesses still do not serve alcohol, and when they do there are minimum prices and restrictions around serving hours.

Places of note in the area include the Presence Resurrection Medical Center and Retirement Community, Oriole Park and the public library branch next to it, and the oldest building in Chicago - a mansion known as Noble-Seymour-Crippen House.

Transportation is facilitated via the blue 'L' line and the I-90 cutting through the district, as well as decent bus services.
