Description

Originally a farming area settled by German Americans, Lincoln Square is a residential area made up of small apartment blocks and mixed private residences. Though the German influence still remains, it is now blended with many other cultures, only a few old mainstays like the DANK haus Cultural Centre and the Lutz Café and Bakery reminding residents of the community area's roots, now blended with businesses catering to Thai and Middle Eastern cultures as well.

Other places of note in Lincoln Square include the Rosehill Cemetary, the Conrad Sulzer Regional Library and the Illinois Department of Employment Security. Additionally, Gene's Sausage Shop and Delicatessen sits above the original site of the Meyer Delicatessen, and the Old Town School of Folk music hosts many festivals throughout the year.

Transport through the district is aided by the Brown Line 'L'.
