Like many of the district names of Chicago, Edison park is not actually a massive park in the Far north, but a community settled along a minor trade route used by the local natives. Annexed in 1910 by Chicago in order to get access to closer schools, the small community remained fairly undeveloped until the early 1950's during the intense period of GI construction that overtook many of the suburbs of Chicago. Today, Edison Park possesses one of the highest median incomes of the districts, with an emphasis on single family residential dwellings. Like many of the more affluent and gentrified neighborhoods, possess only small minority communities.
