Hegewisch

Description

Hegewisch has probably the largest area of available underdeveloped land in all of chicago. Known for its diverse environs from empty lots to manufacturing plants to middle income residential areas spotted with public parks. It's mainly broken up into three neighborhoods. Old Hegewisch with its historic nineteenth century charm to Arizona and Avalon Trails. Its streets are clean and well cared for, if showing their age. The community is thriving with recent efforts of gentrification and manages to hold on to an old world sense of strong community when being part of a neighborhood meant something. Small houses built in the sixties mix with the charm of turn of the century brownstones and Latin flavor lends a touch of color here and there.
